Fréjus and Saint-Raphaël
Saint-Raphaël is a seaside resort on the French Riviera, located at the far eastern edge of the Var department, in the Gulf of Fréjus. Saint-Raphaël is associated with the municipality of Fréjus, often referred to as Fréjus-Saint-Raphaël. Together, they form the second largest population hub in Var after Toulon.
In 1799, Bonaparte landed in Saint-Raphaël upon returning from the Egyptian campaign and received a triumphant welcome.
Saint-Raphaël became a renowned seaside resort with the rise of tourism on the French Riviera at the end of the 19th century. Visitors to Saint-Raphaël enjoy marine and outdoor activities. The town is located at the foot of the Estérel Massif, which offers numerous opportunities for hiking and exploration.
