Guesthouse in Provence

Authenticity and Hospitality of Provence

About the portal

Sharing Provence

Behind this portal are a personal perspective, roads explored and a wish to help you fall in love with Provence.

Vincent Flachaire, creator of the portal

Who am I?

I’m Vincent Flachaire, a web designer based in Avignon since 2004. I build websites, particularly for guesthouses. The Provence Guesthouse Portal began in 2006 as a way of bringing together my clients’ websites, before growing to introduce accommodation and the areas around it.

This project brings together several of my passions: the web, photography and Provence, which I have explored by bicycle for many years. I look after the website’s design and development, and work on its writing and images.

Discovering Provence along the way

Cycling gives you time to look around. A quiet road, a village, light on a façade or a landscape glimpsed around a bend can make you want to stop, take a photograph and tell its story.

That is the perspective I want to share in Getaways in Provence. Well-known places sit alongside quieter discoveries, helping you choose a day out, plan a route or extend your stay.

Writing about and photographing Provence

I’m building this guide gradually. I write, take photographs, revise pages and connect places with one another. My aim is to give you a sense of their atmosphere, what deserves your attention and how they fit into the landscapes of Provence.

Articles credited “Text and photographs by Vincent Flachaire” bring together my writing and my images. When other photographers contribute to a page, their photographs carry their own credits.

Browse the guide as you please. The Getaways are arranged in publication order: scroll down the page and click a thumbnail to discover a place.

Connecting guesthouses with their surroundings

Choosing a guesthouse also means choosing a starting point for exploring a region. The portal connects accommodation with nearby villages, landscapes and ideas for days out.

The links take you to the accommodation owners’ websites. There you can discover their properties, check their terms and contact them directly to plan your stay.

How does the portal work?

Accommodation owners pay an annual fee to present their properties on the portal. No commission is charged on bookings: visitors contact and book directly with the owners.
